What does Québec’s agricultural industry need to get carbon farming up and running in the province? That was the question of the day as the expert partners working on the AgroCarbone Grandes Cultures initiative met for their second collaborative workshop in fall 2024.

The purpose of the workshop was to hash out a framework that could drive the adoption of carbon farming in Québec—and draw up a plan to implement it.

Every year, Sollio Agriculture teams up with the cooperatives for the Dairy Performance Awards, which recognize the best dairy farmers in Québec and Eastern Ontario.

What are the Dairy Performance Awards?

Although little known and underestimated, fertilizing residual materials (FRMs) are a cost-saving solution for farmers.

“There’s an FRM for every need, from fertilizing to adding organic matter and correcting pH,” says Simon Naylor, Vice-President and Co-Founder of Viridis environnement. Viridis has a 70% share of the FRM recovery market and delivers 600,000 tonnes of organic matter to 700 farm businesses each year.

Managing nitrogen loss due to volatilization, leaching and denitrification is an essential part of preserving the environment and reducing the amount of greenhouse gases generated by corn production. Fortunately, that’s why we have nitrogen protection products!
