Launch of Sollio & Grains Québec Agriculture coopérative
A new partnership with a strong potential in the Quebec grain sector.
With the launch of Sollio & Grains Québec Agriculture cooperative, grain producers will be dealing with one of the largest organizations ever seen in the grain sector in Quebec. The new grouping will offer them greater market access for their crops while meeting the needs of the various players in the industry.
The provincial partnership for grain marketing in Quebec and Eastern Ontario brings together all the activities of 10 founding cooperatives and Sollio Agriculture on the territory of these cooperatives. Its ultimate mission is to offer better marketing conditions to Quebec grain producers, to find outlets for their harvests and to meet the needs of processing customers.
"It is a great opportunity for the Quebec co-operative network to be part of this partnership that will bring many significant advantages to our provincial members and clients. They will benefit from the strength of the group while maintaining proximity in the field with their producers," said Guy Crépeau, President of Sollio & Grains Québec.
As part of this partnership, Sollio & Grains Québec benefits from its close relationship with Sollio Agriculture's grain sector, which handles 4.2 million tonnes of grain per year and gives it access to its multiple facilities along the St. Lawrence Seaway.
"It is by consolidating the main grain marketing activities of the member cooperatives and Sollio Agriculture that this new organization will make it possible to develop new markets," explained Richard Villeneuve, General Manager of Sollio & Grains Québec. "With the consolidation of risk management, it will be able to better position itself in the commodities market while achieving major operational and financial gains," he added.
The deployment of the partnership will continue gradually through 2021.
